Many cigar aficionados claim that the ideal temperature for storing cigars is 70 degree F.  Any lower will tend to age the cigar, rather than keep it at a constant level.  Humidors are not meant to age, but rather to preserve the integrity, flavor, and color of the cigar.

What should you look for when purchasing a humidor?  The good humidor should close completely, with a tight fitting lid that will keep the cigars well kept from the elements and prevent any exchange of moisture.  Seams should be smooth and well fitted for cigars.  Cedar, especially Spanish cedar is ideal for the interior of the humidor.  Of course, make certain your brand of cigars fits well into any humidor you are considering purchasing.

Regardless of the size or price of the humidor you are getting, you are almost always guaranteed to get the cigar humidor sampler as part of the deal.  It allows you to test the product out on cigars that you technically didn’t have to purchase.  It’s like a cigar humidor combo…but this part, get this other part.  Who doesn’t like a freebie once in a while?

There are humidors that say they are only for Cuban cigars, or at least that’s how the title reads, but you can probably put any cigar in any humidor and it will do its job.  Besides coming with a sampler pack, others often come with the humidor activator and cigar cutters.  There probably isn’t a combo pack that you would wish to purchase that isn’t already available for sale online.
